Just north of New Denver, and at the top of Slocan Lake, Rosebery is a tiny lakeside community of summer homes, retiree’s and a few locals.
Rosebery used to be the northern mooring of the Slocan Lake railway barge. Now it is easily recognizable by the log yard at the top of Slocan Lake.
There are few services here, but just north of the entrance to the Park is a nice Mexican restaurant.
Rosebery Provincial Park has 36 sites with picnic tables, pit toilets, firewood and water. There are excellent views of the spectacular Valhalla Range to the west. This park is a good staging spot for backcountry exploration of Valhalla and Kokanee Glacier Provincial Parks. You can also explore the mining ghost towns nearby or visit hot springs in the area.
If you’re into backroad adventures, you can take the 24-km lumpy dusty logging road that runs alongside Wilson Creek to rustic campsites at Beaver, Little Wilson and Big Wilson lakes. The Wilson Creek falls hike leads you to a beautiful waterfall, guaranteed to mist your hot body into a mess of goose bumps on a scorching summer’s day.
