Northwest Mountain Experience

Northwest Mountain Experience offers guided backcountry ski touring and split-board trips across Western Canada, based from Slocan BC.   We also offer Avalanche Safety Training AST 1 & AST 2 courses, Backcountry Navigational Skills Training and Introduction To Ski & Split-board Touring Courses.  With our base in Slocan BC we primarily operate in the West Kootenay Region or Columbia Mountains.  There are vast mountain ranges in our area that have barely been explored on skis.  We commonly host trips in the Valhalla’s, Kokanee’s, Goat & Nelson Ranges near Slocan.   Often we are also hosting trips further from Slocan in the Monashee, Selkirk, Purcell, Canadian Rockies & Coast Mountain Ranges.   We run day trips to multi-day tours, often up to 7-days long.  We will often stage our multi-day trips at the various backcountry lodges and cabins through out the region.  Some of these lodges are extremely comfortable with private bedrooms, wood fired saunas & hot showers and can accommodate larger groups of 12-14 guests.  While other huts we visit are a little more “rustic” and better designed for smaller groups of 2-8 guests.  Many of our trips are catered.  We offer tasty, nutritious meals that will set you up for a big day of touring in the mountains.  We focus on fresh food that is locally sourced, often from our garden and community farmers.  With 20 years experience guiding in Western Canada let us show you where we like to backcountry ski and how to do it safely!  Contact us for trip details & opportunities!
